Recruiting Founding Members of Future Leaders Group

23 September 2021

Cathedral Music Trust is recruiting for founding members of its Future Leaders scheme to work in partnership with the charity’s recently formed Development Committee and bring fresh insight into supporting choral and organ music across the UK and further afield. This scheme is designed to ensure that the voices of young people are at the heart of what we do, and members of the group will have the opportunity to influence and engage with the Trust's organisational strategy whilst developing skills to support them in their future careers.

The Cathedral Music Trust's Future Leaders Group will involve the following strands of work:

  • Influencing strategy: Quarterly sessions will bring the Future Leaders together to discuss issues around cathedral music and work on practical projects to develop deeper engagement with and shape the future of choral and organ music.
  • Working with experts: The group will engage with research relating to cathedral music and develop innovative ideas for the Trust’s campaigns in communications, marketing, education and fundraising.
  • Networking and events: The group will have the opportunity to network with Trustees, Development Committee Members, our Patrons, President and ambassadors.
  • Creating content: work with peers to develop and create content promoting greater engagement with cathedral music across digital and print platforms.
  • Future development: Our Future Leaders programme is a pilot project in its first year, and we are keen to involve the Leaders in helping to evaluate the programme’s success and develop plans for its future.

Who can apply?

We are committed to expanding the diversity of our volunteers, particularly with regard to gender, age, disability and ethnicity. If you are under the age of 35 and interested in helping us to pursue our mission to support and develop the vibrant living heritage of cathedral music, then the Future Leaders scheme is for you.

Applications in the form of a short expression of interest and a CV should be sent to [email protected] by 5pm on Monday 25 October 2021.

About Cathedral Music Trust

Cathedral Music Trust is a voice for cathedral music, upholding this integral part of the nation’s cultural heritage by campaigning on behalf of cathedral music and musicians, supporting cathedral choirs and choristers in greatest need, and encouraging the pursuit of excellence in choral and organ music. Harry Christophers, CBE, founder and conductor of The Sixteen, is our President, and Alexander Armstrong, actor, presenter, comedian, former chorister and choral scholar is our Ambassador.

Our Development Committee, chaired by Jonathan Macdonald, is responsible for the oversight of and creative engagement with all aspects of the Trust’s communications, fundraising and marketing activity, working closely with our Development Director Natasha Morris.

There will be more opportunities for individuals to get involved with the work of the Trust as volunteers in future. We will be recruiting for these roles in 2021 and 2022, and more information will follow as and when.
