Summary
Following Registration and Welcome, we're treated to a concert of secular music, mainly a cappella, from The Oriel Singers* in the Chapter House including Jonathan Dove's fabulous song cycle, The Passing of the Year. We then hear from Nia Llewelyn Jones, the cathedral choir's Assistant Conductor, about the music in the Cathedral since the girl choristers attained parity with the boys. We're invited to observe the Cathedral Choir's rehearsal – usually a closed affair – before hearing Choral Evensong at 4.30pm. After the service, and by kind permission of the Very Revd Andrew Zihni, Dean of Gloucester Cathedral, we will enjoy refreshments in the Deanery before the gathering comes to a close.
