Applying for the Tony Harvey Award

The Tony Harvey Award is a grant of up to £1,000 to help support a male choral scholar at an English cathedral.  We make one award annually.

Who may apply?

Any male choral scholar in financial need at an English cathedral may apply, with the support of the Director of Music.

When do I apply?

The deadline for applications is 26 February 2021, with the award commencing in the following academic year.

How do I apply?

Applications must be submitted using our online Tony Harvey Award Application Form, which can be accessed from the button at the bottom of this form.  You will receive an acknowledgement of your application, so please contact us if you have submitted an application and not received a response.  All correspondence should be made through the grants-enquiries@cathedralmusictrust.org.uk.

Alongside your application form, we require a letter of recommendation from the cathedral’s Director of Music and the contact details of another referee.  You will be able to upload a digital copy of this letter when completing the online application form.

When will I hear if my application has been successful?

You will hear the outcome of your application by the end of May 2021.

How do I acknowledge my grant?

We ask cathedrals to acknowledge a grant via their website.

How does CMT monitor the impact of my grant?

We will request a short report explaining what is being achieved with the grant.  If we consider that an award is not being used for its intended purpose, or if the organisation fails to supply requested information or comply with the conditions of the grant, we reserve the right to request repayment of the grant.
