E is for…Ely

Today, 5 December, we head over to the Cambridgeshire Fens to visit the glorious Ely Cathedral, where members of the Girls’ Choir are busy preparing for their annual performance of Britten’s Ceremony of Carols, during Evensong on 15 December. They are also working hard on repertoire for a Christmas concert in London.

The boys are singing Evensong tonight: Byrd’s Short Service and Purcell’s ‘Bell Anthem’ but are also fitting in rehearsals for the annual ‘Hark the Herald’ concert on 21 December.

To get us in the festive mood, here is a video of the choir singing an arrangement of ‘In Dulci Jubilo’ by Philip Moore. Fabulous!

Thankfully, it’s not ‘all work and no play’ for the boys and girls of Ely Cathedral. Here they are having fun on the Victorian carousel which recently featured at the Cathedral’s Christmas Fair.
